# Need help. Renault Megane 2 1.5Dci fuel consumption

There’s a fuel meter:

frame id=“0x551”  
value name=“FuelCounter” offset=“1” length=“1”

This is the only thing the ECU transmits over the CAN bus, cumulatively increasing the value from 0 to 255.  
How can I get instantaneous and average fuel consumption from this?

Generaly the passanger cars does not brodcasting the fuel usage data and in most case uses private IDs, Tru diag queries you can access the fuel usage (like L/hour, mode 1: pid 5e) and the speed, from these you can calulate the fuel rate/usage.

I think the id:551 in your case the fuel usage/trip.
