**GEAR**

In OBD2 connection, Gear is calculated per speed and your vehicle gear ratios:

1. Go to RealDash ‘Settings-\>Units & Values’ and set Vehicle speed source as ‘ECU Speed Sensor’
2. Go to Garage, open vehicle door and tap gear shifter
3. Enter your vehicle gear ratios. Use 0 on unused gears.
4. Tap vehicle tire and set your vehicle tire size (driving wheel).

**FUEL LEVEL**

While fuel level is part of OBD2 standard, many vehicles do not send this information to OBD2 port via SAE-Standard PID.

By default, fuel level is set to ‘Calculated’. You can adjust the fuel level from Quick Settings (‘Gear’ icon on bottom right). While fuel level is part of OBD2 standard, many vehicles do not send this information to OBD2 port. You can still try to see OBD2 fuel level on RealDash:

1. Open ‘Settings-\>Units & Values-\>Input Mapping’
2. Find ‘Fuel Level’, select it and select ‘Remove’ on burger menu on the right.

This will remove the mapping of using calculated fuel level to use the input directly.

You can use OBD2 monitor to check if your vehicle is sending the info to standard PID.

1. Go to OBD2 connection settings and tap ‘OBD2 monitor’
2. Type commands
ATSP0
0100
012F

The reply to 012F command is the fuel level vehicle reports.

**TURN SIGNALS AND OTHER INDICATORS**

Turn signals and other indicators are not part of OBD2 standard, but there are basically 3 ways to get turn signal and other indicators work on OBD2 vehicles.

1. Use vehicle specific PIDs. If PIDs are known, you can add those into RealDash OBD2 values by modifying and importing the XML file. See ‘Customizing OBD2 Communications’ from our manuals: [realdash.net/manuals/customizing\_obd2\_communications](http://realdash.net/manuals/customizing_obd2_communications)

2. Use extra IO box, like SPLeinonen DashBox ([www.spleinonen.com](http://www.spleinonen.com)). These solutions have extra inputs that can be wired to indicators.

3. Use DIY solution like Arduino with our open RealDash CAN protocol to transmit indicator statuses to RealDash. See ‘RealDash CAN’ from out manuals: [realdash.net/manuals/realdash\_can](http://realdash.net/manuals/realdash_can)

Hi I am into my second year as a premium subscriber and finally tried to set the fuel values by following the steps provided by you .though I tried these steps I could go beyond 1. Open ‘Settings-\>Units & Values-\>Input Mapping’ → 1. Find ‘Fuel Level’, select it and select ‘Edit’ on burger menu on the right.—\>In ‘Select Source Input’ screen, find ‘ECU Specific ,beyond this I couldnt proceed because I couldnt find “OBD2” Fuel Level’ and tap ‘Select Input’

I have attached some images of my screen for help

Yes, unfortunately to write-up was done in 2019 and is not 100% accurate anymore. I did edit it not to mislead others anymore.

If you want to read fuel level from the OBD2, first thing you need to do is to verify that your vehicle is actually responding to fuel level PID (many vehicles do not)

1. Go to OBD2 connection settings and tap ‘OBD2 monitor’
2. Type commands

```auto
ATSP0
0100
012F
```

If your vehicle responds with meaningful fuel level value, you can remove the input mapping for the fuel level, as described in now updated first post.

Thanks a lot for the information

So if i type in that command it should read my fuel levels ? And then just exit and save?

OBD2 Monitor does not make any changes to the connection. Its there just that you can experiment and verify the PID replys from your vehicle. If your vehicle responds correctly to PID 012F, it is sending the fuel level info.

Hello. Please tell me which OBD2 adapter is compatible with the KIA Optima for use with RealDash so that it shows the status of the parking lights, low beam, high beam, turn signals, handbrake, gearbox, and door opening.?
