350z obdlink ex can connection

So i am trying to make a digital display for my 350z (using a stock ecu) and i have purchased a raspberry pi5 and touch screen. Everything on the real dash side of things works in order for me to get it running with obd2 but it is a little too slow for me. I have an obdlink ex wire connected from the elm327 connector to a usb port on the pi5 but i can only get it to work when configured as an obd2 serial cable. When use the same wire as a can adapter and select obdlink serial cable and i read the can signals it gets signals sent to it but does not display anything on the screen and does not say it is properly connected. Is real dash just not able to correctly translate the can inputs to show them on the app? is there a driver or something i can install to fix that or any sort of easy way for me to get it to read the can data instead of obd2? I am assuming the can data from that cable is significantly faster than the obd2.

in addition to that could i download the nissandefinitions.xml file from GitHub - Pytrex/NissanDefinitions: Nissan and Infiniti ECU ROM Definition files for use with RomRaider Editor. . upload it as its own can description file and use it?

Maaate! Im having pretty much the same issue. If you manage to figure it out can ya give me the low down on how to sus it too cause im going bald pulling my hair out trying to get this thing to work on my race car haha

You need to create a XML file that describes the CAN frames for RealDash. See documentation here:

well i figured out that my issue is the formatting, thers a link to the correct format that the dev just added. that the format needed, my other issue is that these are obd2 definitions and i need dbcs, i have already found those and will try those next. is yours on a stock ecu?
