Lol, yeah, B&M quicksilver. I’ve got a nice Jake’s 4l80e in it. Knowing now what I know with the Holley, I kinda wish I had just bought a normal shifter for it. I plan to implement a paddle shift setup on the wheel instead.
Is there anything I can add in the modded XML to restart the connection? I’ve noticed the waveshare canbus adapter I’m running is hit or miss on establishing the connection timely to realdash. I can go into the garage and open the connector and as soon as I open the canbus viewer, I will see data. Then when I close out and go back to the main screen, the data will display. I did try dropping the baud rate down as the literature advised for the waveshare adapter. But it still behaves the same way.
Has there been any more development on getting all the holley data over? Or anything else I can try from a app perspective to not use the modded xml?
Not really. This can be done with custom XML, but 99% of the users do not need/want all the data and are satisfied with the set we have on current bundled XML file.
As for your connection issues, I just do not know what is happening there. I have a local friend with Holley ECU and Seeedstudio CAN adapter and connection is rock solid.
Anytime I’ve tried to do anything in the xml beyond updating my ID, it breaks it.
I’ve tried the waveshare, canable, and two other no name adapters, all have had their own unique issues. I guess I’ll give seeedstudio a try next.
Mine with a raspberry Pi 5, Terminator X Max, and this canbus adapter is rock solid as well and has been working perfectly for since I posted the original post in this thread.
I’m running candlelight firmware. It’s basically just a Canable clone.
It’s solid running both the Holley Terminator X (on Can 2 via J3) and also running BMW KCAN through a second one.
I’m not sure that really helps as you look to be using Android, but it’s a data point.
I’ve tried candlelight on four different canable clones. All haven’t worked for me with the default config from realdash. Course I’m using a android head unit and not a RPi.
Hopefully the seeedstudio adapter will work. Just frustrating to have no cleanly working option from trying so many things.
I understand that. I suspect that there is something else on your setup that is causing your issues. Those are unfortunately next to impossible troubleshoot remotely.
I’m all ears for any suggestions to try next. That adapter BMW468LS isn’t even recognized by my head unit. Even using SLCAN or candlelight. (It does see it when I set it to boot mode though)
I’d be happy if I could just figure out a way in the XML or some process to reboot real dash or the connection to get the dash to display the data without having to go into the garage and view the canbus data.
