Connectivity with OPCOM adapter

Hello everyone, I’ve been trying for several months to connect an adapter to my 2006 Astra G Monotronic 1.5.5, apparently with the K-line protocol, and my question is: is there any way to connect and configure the OP-COM USB adapter to RealDash? I’ve tried many configurations without success. Thanks!

Standard ELM327 OBD2 adapter does not work for you?

Thank you for answering my question, but no, the ELM327 doesn’t work in its different versions. It connects to RealDash, but it doesn’t communicate with the ECU. I’ve attached the monitoring logs from the ELM327. If you cannot open the XML file, change the extension to txt.
ELM327 1.5.xml (907 Bytes)
ELM327 2.1.xml (1.1 KB)

OBD2 ‘should’ work on 2006 Opel, but it seems that your vehicle needs some sort of custom header to be set before it allows communication with the ECU.

As far as I know, the OP-COM is a closed, proprietary adapter. So unless the manufacturer of the adapter gives access to its protocol, its a no-go

It’s not an Opel, it’s a 2006 Chevrolet Astra G from Mercosur. I think it uses the OBD2 protocol, but it’s a K-line model.

And the OP-COM I use isn’t the original; it’s a Chinese version that I downgraded because I said it might work better than the updated one.

So it’s impossible for me? :sob:

Ah, Astra is an Opel here in Europe.

ELM327 OBD2 adapters should support K-line just fine. I think your only option is to find a set of ELM327 commands that will make your ECU to respond to messages like 0100 etc. Typically you need to set some sort of custom header with ATSH command.

I’m sure someone has found solution for this, try asking some Chevrolet hobbyists forums for the ELM327 commands that would make it work. You can then test those commands in RealDash OBD2 monitor to verify the connection.
