GPS Update’s

Unlicensed edition currently being tested.

Is there a way to increase the GPS update times, in testing it only appears be be updating every 60 seconds, this is seen for both map position and GPS speed - The GPS speed appears to snapshot at the refresh time so remaining the same until the next refresh.
It might be down to my configuration setup ? Or not having the full edition, but want to make sure it’s supported before purchasing …

Amazon Fire Tablet 5th gen running Fire OS 5.6.7 with no internal SIM, WiFi connected to an iPhone with full signal…

If this is not supported will it work with real time updates on an iPad connected to an iPhone via WiFi, or does it require a direct GPS signal?

Thanks in advance…

The GPS update speed is not limited in any way in free version of RealDash. Obviously GPS updates are not working correctly on your device. It sounds like location manager is trying to get your location based on network positioning instead of GPS.

  • Does other GPS apps, like Google Maps work as expected?
  • Have you given RealDash a permission to access your exact location?

Again, many thanks for your prompt response…

So it looks like it’s something to do with the fire tablet, maybe that’s why it was so cheap… even google maps has the same 60 second refresh issue, also tested a default map graphic on an iPad tethered to the same iPhone and that updates real time.

Do you know if RealDash app on IOS is permitted to use a serial converter or is that blocked still by Apple ? My ECU only has serial db9 connectivity …

Thanks again …

Serial connections are still banned by Apple unless the serial device is Apple MFI certified (and very few are).
