I see that there are some laptimer functions available in Realdash.
How are the lap triggers implemented with RD please?

When you are close enough to any known racetrack, the lap timer system activates automatically:

Each track has its finish line specified and RealDash uses GPS to detect that vehicle has passed over the finish line. Then it uses interpolation to calculate the exact time when line was crossed.
