New to everything

Hi guys,

Completely new to all of this, lol. Wanted to introduce myself.

I have a 1989 Jeep YJ (Wrangler) that I do performance stuff to, with a very small YT channel. It currently has a 4.0 Inline 6, mods are AC turned On Board Air, Clifford Intake with Holley 390 DP- annualar boosters added, Ford 8.8 w/4.10 gears-TruTrac, Dual Fuel (can run off gas or propane), Falken 33’s, 2.5" lift, etc. It has been dynoed 4 times with other engine combos, and in the midst of having a Stroker built (inline 6 4.6L) with a roller cam, torrington bearing timing chain, Edelbrockhead, etc- stupid money, no literally, why? Lol.

The idea of my build and channel is performance based, and Jeep based- alot of Butt Dyno/I felt B.S. in that community, lol.

Currently I have normal gauges (Oil Pres, Fuel, Temp, Volt) and an Innovative PSB-1 (AFR w/ Vac). I want more gauges, lol.

With starting from scratch Tech wise? What may be the best options going forward with RealDash? I would really like to keep my Analog stock gauges behind the tablet, splice into them. Ontop of say 2x IAT, Air PSI, TPS and maybe some more added gauges. And possibly a shift light on the tablet, maybe replace the PSB-1 as well, or again piggy back it.

Would building/learning Arduino be the best bet? Keep in mind, I’ve never programed anything before, please. But… before my Jeep? I had never swapped Cylinder heads before either as an example, lol. Now I can do it in my sleep. So I don’t mind learning, just need a direction to point my 'tism.

Thanks for the add!!!

I should also note: part of my decisions here is that Ive looked at OneGauge, Banks, Holley, etc and while cool?

I’d rather build myself for the cost and also learning. Plus, I like to change things and convert things, Real Dash seems to be perfect for that.

With 1989 car and no aftermarket fuel injection, the issue becomes of how do you get sensor data from your car to RealDash. Sure, you could build something by yourself, like Arduino. Could be a fun project but will take time and effort especially if you do not have experience with electronics and programming. Also, please note that we are not providing any hardware and are unable to assist you with custom hardware project.

You could contact SPLeinonen (spleinonen.com) for their DashBox product which can read sensors and send data to RealDash.

As for display, I think easiest route is a Android car radio. It has power management etc. already built-in, are easy to install and versatile.

Best of luck with your project, hope it goes well.
