OBDII with Mercedes w164

Hi,

I have Mercedes ML500 2006 model and have Android device(Px3 7.1.2) and installed realdahs and connected to my OBDII and its read the rpm and few things.

I would like to activate the signal indicator.

please note I am not sure if the fuel level by the OBDII is working, also the range its giving too low for example instead of 234 km its shows 21 km.

thanks in advanced.

While fuel level is part of OBD2 standard, many vehicles do not send this information to OBD2 port.

Because of this, fuel level is set to ‘Calculated’ by default. You can adjust the fuel level from Quick Settings (‘Gear’ icon on bottom right). You can try to map OBD2 fuel level on RealDash:

  1. Open ‘Settings->Units & Values->4th page’
  2. Find ‘Fuel Level’ and change the mapping to ‘ECU Specific->OBD2: Fuel Level’

Turn signals and other indicators are not part of OBD2 standard. There are basically 3 ways to get turn signal and other indicators work on OBD2 vehicles.

  1. Use vehicle specific PIDs. If PIDs are known, you can add those into RealDash OBD2 values by modifying and importing the XML file. See ‘Customizing OBD2 Communications’ from our manuals: https://www.realdash.net/manuals/customizing_obd2_communications

  2. Use extra IO box, like SPLeinonen DashBox (www.spleinonen.com). These solutions have extra inputs that can be wired to indicators.

  3. Use DIY solution like Arduino with our open RealDash CAN protocol to transmit indicator statuses to RealDash. See ‘RealDash CAN’ from out manuals: https://www.realdash.net/manuals/realdash_can
