Good evening im working on a 1970 monte carlo. Theres no obd2 or anything. I have a 12.3 prechen monitor im using. I definitely need a raspberry pi inorder to to make it have a signal. What other devices i would need to make this actually work with the car. Im not running efi. Just a plane jane 496 carbureted engine. Yet everything inside the car will be digital. What would be the best option for my situation
Just adding RPi is not enough to read all the sensors. You also need specialized software to interpret sensor data from GPIO pins. I think some other solution could be easier to start with.
There are some generic IO boxes that can read your sensors and transmit data. Maybe contact SPLeinonen and consider their DashBox, which is capable of reading sensors and RPM signal directly from the coil.
Thanks for your input i actually was checking that out. If i have any more questions ill definitely be back
What about ardunio 2560 with a raspberry pi?
Users have built DIY systems like that. But honestly we are not experts on hardware and cannot really recommend what would be the best way to get started.
is there a way create my own path to realdash outside of the preset options. ive been able to connect but when i start my pinouts and “activate the signals” nothing happens. i was using speeduino.. should i switch to realdash can
I believe Speeduino has a firmware that has RealDash CAN output. Not sure if it is officially supported or not. Unfortunately we do not have Speeduino to test on.
so i ended up getting everything to work instead of using speeduino i used adapters (can/lin) with realdash can. now i just have 2 calibrate and get that going ill be back to let u know how that goes
