New setup appears to be mostly working.
RD is sending can messages OK (not tested rx yet)
However, ‘Connecting … can0’ message keeps popping up every 7s or so.
Is there another issue I should check - how to stop behavior?
Are there any Linux logs that can be checked to ensure RD is happy?
Background:
RPI5, Copperhill CAN hat
Linux 6.6.74+rpt-rpi-2712 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.6.74-1+rpt1 (2025-01-27) aarch64 GNU/Linux
realdash-mrd_2.4.7-1_arm64.deb
Started from GUI graphics menu
Cmd line fails rudely!;
$ which realdash
/usr/bin/realdash
$ realdash --v
15:01:42.545 os_linux.cpp(444)(tid:0xd5fb5d3d) : NUTS_INFO - --v
Segmentation fault
I would like to have RD start automatically from a startup script
Did some quick tests and on my Ubuntu development setup I’m unable to reproduce this. You are saying that it launches properly from Graphics menu, but not from terminal?
Apologies - the segfault only occurs when try to start realdash from a ssh session. When started from a shell in the gui (as one would normally do of course), it starts with no issues.
But my OP primary issue remains - even though CAN messages seem to be working ok, keep getting the pop up on the RD screen every 7s or so
Are there any logs that can help me troubleshoot the ‘Connecting … can0’ pop up issue? I am seeing RD send CAN messages with no apparent issue. At this time no CAN messages are coming in but that should not be a factor?
Very difficult to troubleshoot remotely. I believe Linux SocketCAN connection is working properly as many RD users are using it actively. Maybe a wrong CAN baud setting or something. Have you verified with terminal and candump that you are actually getting the frames?
Since you seem like the most skill one on here I have a question I want to design a specific dash to use for my prototype car but I am not use to this software and even looking for people to hire to do so I was unable to find any would you be interested in’s collab or working with my company to develop a specific dash for us and of course the community is welcome to use it.
