hello there!
I’m building Veilside body kit from scratch on mx5 nb. And for that project I wanted to go extra crazy with interior and use real dash as main gauges. Unfortunately mx5 has very limited readout though obd port with slight lag. And I wonder if anyone tried to convert for example analog turn signals to digital with esp32 I’ve talked with friend who made such job but he’s building custom ecosystem for all of that.
I’ve made modified New boss on the block to imitate Apple CarPlay ultra from Aston Martin.
Also, there are IO boxes, like SPLeinonen, or basically any CAN based IO box can be used with RealDash. Those require some configuration to get started.
That’s so cool . Thanks for letting me know which reader you are using! I have millions of questions. Were you able to get read out of fuel level as well? And I see you’ve got read for mileage right? Is that nbfl?btw are you from Poland? Looks like blury street sign from Warsaw in background
Reading fuel level is for now biggest pain in the ass. So far I haven’t been able to get good readings because the voltage is fluctuating. The mileage is just entered in realdash, in Miata the mileage is only saved in dash and can’t be read via cable, so this is a problem. The tachometer works really well. I get the speed from GPS, I haven’t checked how to read the speed from Dash, because I have a different differential so it wouldn’t match anyway. This is NBFL, after OBD I have LTFT, STFT, battery voltage, and data from the air flow meter for instantaneous fuel consumption. And of course all the lights, turn signals, check engine light and even the handbrake light are working.Good Catch, I’m from Warsaw
