What kind of hardware should I use?

I’ve almost finished my car skin, and I’m thinking about what to use as hardware? raspberry there will be problems with power supply, I’m not immediately considering this option. I was thinking about buying a car radio on Android, but the question is whether I can connect a larger display to it and which one is better to choose in terms of price/quality, please give me a hint) Thanks everyone)

Hi there, may I ask why you think there will be a problem with the raspberry pi

From my understanding raspberry pi might run into issues with powering it and then turning it off safely so it doesn’t corrupt.

Yes, there is a problem with sleep mode. How to organize it so that when you turn off the engine, raspberry saves all the content, so that after you start the car, the dashboard starts up in a second? Otherwise, you will have to wait 40 seconds or more, and this is not very cool. So I’m thinking about it, in general raspberry would be cool to use, I like their hardware)

Ok, this is not really an issue!
It is a matter of constant current power supply!
RPi are known to be Amp hungry at starting up and some tasks!
A ll you need is a clamped constant Amperage 2, 3 or 4 Amp power DC DC converter, dead cheap! So that when your RPi pulls some juice, there is enough
and in a protective manner!

I’ve started looking into raspberry too.

I’ve read that raspberry pi 5 can be deleted by USB, so I was wondering if a USB fuse tap, similar to dashcams, would be able to power it.

If so you could also fuse tap to a hot fuse for constant power.

Only downside is obviously it’s constantly powered.

I understand, what I am going to say is only for my own experience! I had to upgrade my battery, but not much. Furthermore, I did not like sleep mode. Unless you have a very custom ROM! So I figured out how long my battery can last without me starting and running the car, leaving RealDash running, 5 days so far! I have to mention that I am working on Android (for now) and there is a custom ROM being developed! With no screens backlight, no active inputs, it suited me but maybe you have different needs!

I am using an Orange PI 5, with a slim Armbian desktop, and can boot into realdash at the 10 second mark from the time i provide 5v.

I’m testing out raspberry pi 5 rn running Android.

Trying to see if it’ll work or not.
