Here are the most common steps to connect to OBD2-USB-serial adapter.
USB serial connections are available in Android and Windows versions of RealDash. Apple does not allow generic serial connections with iOS. Also note that Android device must support USB OTG, which most post Android 5 devices do.
If you have created connections that do not work, you may want to clear RealDash app data, or uninstall/install.
- Attach the USB cable to your vehicle and device. On Android, use appropriate USB-OTG adapter.
- Open RealDash, on first start select language, and then go to ‘Garage’
- Tap vehicle door and then the instrument cluster. Tap ‘Add’ on connection list
- Select ‘OBD2->Serial/USB->serial device name->’
- Select correct baud rate for your adapter. See your adapter manual for correct setting.
- Go to next screen until you are in connection settings page.
- Optionally you can check vehicle configurations from ‘Select Vehicle’ button, or leave it as ‘Generic SAE-compatible vehicle’.
- Tap upper left corner ‘Done’
- Exit garage back to dashboard.
RealDash will connect to your adapter in a few seconds.
