Unable to import vehicle.xml or load dash.rd files in 2.6.8

File import and load are non-functional on version 2.6.8 running on my Android 15 head unit.

When I attempt to import a vehicle file or load a custom dash file, upon selecting a file in my file manager (tried FileManager, X-Plore, and CX File Explorer) to load, the file picker window in RealDash is completely empty - it shows no file was ever selected.

I have tried importing / loading from USB as well as copying the files to the default RealDash app directory, same issue. Is this a known bug? Do I need to downgrade or install a different known- functioning version?

The first link references installing package RealDash-v268-pr3 APK but that doesn’t appear to be available in downloads any more.

There has been couple of reports about this, but the issue does not manifest itself on any of our test devices. I will try to find some more exotic Android devices to test on.

Was trying to dial in my tephra v3 .xml and cleared data to get a fresh start and now i cant get either an .rd or .xml to populate in the import screen. Samsung a9+ tablet.

Edit: moving the .rd file to internal storage-downloads got it to populate in the import folder.

I tried moving the files to the internal storage /Download dir as well as the /Documents folder.

Did not resolve the issue for me. The import folder window remains blank for me regardless.

Some other things I have tried today:

  • Full uninstall / reinstall of RealDash a few times (both from the App Store as well as a couple of the other v2.6.8 apk’s available in Downloads).
  • Installed the Amaze File Manager as an alternative that a couple others reported some luck with.
  • Verified the RealDash app has full storage permissions.

No change, behavior remained the same.

I also discovered that “File > Save” and “File > Save As” functionality is broken in v2.6.8 for me.

I uninstalled and downgraded to v2.6.2-2, that resolved all issues.

I am now able to freely import vehicle.xml files, load my custom dash.rd files, as well as perform File > Save and File > Save As operations.

It appears RealDash v2.6.2-2 is the most recent stable version prior to the introduction of these file system permissions issues.
